As part of its sustainability strategy, “BEYOND: Taking Action for a Brighter World,” Dentsply Sirona continues to advocate for more sustainable practices in the dental industry through its longstanding and impactful partnership with the World Dental Federation (FDI), as well as through its own initiatives and resources.

Dentsply Sirona, the world’s largest diversified manufacturer of professional dental products and technologies, is proud to support the 2025 FDI Sustainability in Dentistry Summit, which takes place virtually this year on June 5 and 6, from 10:00 to 11:30 AM EST / 04:00 to 05:30 CEST. The event brings together global dental professionals to explore practical solutions for a more sustainable future in dentistry. It also marks the launch of FDI’s second free Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), “Tackling Common Challenges to Sustainable Dentistry.”
Registration for the virtual summit is free of charge, and Dentsply Sirona encourages dental professionals, students, and industry stakeholders worldwide to attend for a unique opportunity to learn about the latest insights and tools in sustainable dentistry. To register, click here.
As a founding member of FDI’s initiative, “Sustainability in Dentistry,” Dentsply Sirona has been calling for more sustainable dental practices for several years. The company is proud of the progress made so far and excited about the opportunity to showcase its commitment and actions at the summit. Dentsply Sirona extends an invitation to all summit attendees to visit its virtual booth, explore sustainability resources, and learn how they can benefit from the company’s sustainability program, “BEYOND: Taking Action for a Brighter World.” In addition, Dr. Rainer Seemann, VP, Chief Clinical Officer at Dentsply Sirona, will participate in a live Q&A panel, sharing actionable insights on sustainable practices in dentistry.
Launch of second FDI MOOC on sustainable dentistry
Following the success of the first MOOC launched in December 2023, the second course, “Tackling Common Challenges to Sustainable Dentistry,” shifts from theory to practice, guiding learners through implementation. It is initially available in English, with other languages to follow.
“As a co-founder of FDI’s initiative, Sustainability in Dentistry, we are proud to support the Summit and help promote the second sustainability MOOC, as they both empower dental professionals to learn, connect, and take meaningful action within their practices,” says Tony Johnson, SVP, Chief Supply Chain Officer and Executive Sponsor for ESG at Dentsply Sirona. “We strongly encourage everyone in the dental community—from dentists to dental nurses, dental hygienists, and students—to register for the Summit and explore the new course. It is through shared learning and commitment that we can truly drive lasting change in our industry.”
Ambassador Prize for sustainability champions
Dentsply Sirona, which was recently named one of “America’s Greenest Companies 2025” by Newsweek, also sponsors the FDI Sustainability Ambassador Prize for a second year. Open to those who complete the first or second MOOC, the prize recognizes individuals who show exceptional commitment to sustainability and outline how they plan to promote eco-conscious practices within their own dental workplaces or through education and advocacy. Two winners will be selected in December 2025, each receiving a cash prize of CHF 500. Applications are open until December 1 and can be accessed here.
“Our thanks go to Dentsply Sirona—truly a driving force for sustainability in our industry. Collaborating with such a motivated partner enables us to deliver high-quality educational content to dental professionals worldwide,” says Dr. Greg Chadwick, President of the FDI World Dental Federation. “With their support, the Sustainability MOOC series is reaching an ever-growing audience and inspiring practical, impactful change in our industry.”
